The Hen Night

The hen night is traditionally organised by the chief bridesmaid, and is usually a somewhat quieter event than the groom's stag party - although not always!

The party usually comprises of the bride, bridesmaids, and other female relatives and friends of the bride and groom. Invitation is usually by word of mouth and it should be made clear to anyone invited what the plan for the evening is, so that they can dress appropriately and know what the likely cost will be.

When organising the hen night, do take into account the bride - if she is shy and quiet, she probably won't appreciate an oiled-up male stripper turning up at the restaurant. Popular choices include going to a pub and club, a meal in a restaurant or at home, or a day at a health club for a spot of pampering.

The hen night should take place well before the wedding, either the weekend, or two weekends before. It is often a good idea to arrange to have it at the same time as the stag do, although the best man and chief bridesmaid should probably liaise to make sure that the two groups won't bump into each other - unless that's what the bride and groom want!
