Wedding Reception Venues Gretna

Once you have decided on the style and size of your wedding, you will need to choose where you will hold your reception. Most receptions are held in hotels, mainly because they provide the space, services and experience. In choosing this option, you might find it easier to be able to leave all the arrangements to the resident 'experts'.

The Venue

Once you have decided on the style and size of your wedding, you will need to choose where you will hold your reception. Most receptions are held in hotels, mainly because they provide the space, services and experience. In choosing this option, you might find it easier to be able to leave all the arrangements to the resident 'experts'.

Most of the places licensed for ceremonies will also host receptions, giving you the advantage of being able to hold your whole day's celebrations in the one place, without the need to travel between the ceremony and reception.

Since the reception is probably going to be the most expensive part of the whole day, make sure you ask the venue coordinator lots of questions, especially about what is included in packages - it is surprising what constitutes as 'extras' (a cake stand and the knife, for instance).

If your home is large enough, you may want to consider holding your reception there, especially if there is also a garden to enjoy. Marquees can be fitted out with beautiful linings, wooden floors, carpets, heating, furniture and kitchens, so, in theory, receptions can be catered almost anywhere, even in bad weather.

The facility fee for a stately home may start at £2,000 and rise to £10,000 or more (excluding catering, service and drinks) and to hire a marquee for 50-75 people can start at £1,500 (also excluding catering, etc.). On the other hand, hiring the local community centre might cost only £30.

For something a little different, what about a river boat, a football club, a museum, a theme parks and even a zoo? All these facilities and places, and more, are available as reception venues, and some for the ceremony as well.
