Wedding Stationery

Stationery

The choice of wedding stationery on the market is enormous. It ranges from packs that are to be handwritten, to a vast range of invitations, reply cards, menus, place name cards, order of service cards, napkins, book matches, coasters and cake boxes that can all be printed to your requirements. If you are trying to cut costs, most of this is an unnecessary expense that will not be noticed by your guests.

The style and wording of the invitations should reflect the style of your wedding. Invitations can be printed in a formal, informal, or modern style, and matching envelopes and even seals are available to complete the theme. By tradition, wedding invitations are normally on portrait folded card, whereas invitations for the reception only are on landscape plain card - not folded.

Of course, if you have a flair for design, and plenty of time on your hands, you have the opportunity to create your own wedding stationery that is completely unique and suits the style of your day perfectly.

Computer-prepared Invitations

If you have your own computer, there are software packages on the market that can help you design cards and invitations; there are even specific wedding stationery packages available, so it may be easier than you think! Making your own invitations in this way will guarantee you something unique, and save a significant amount of money. It is also very useful if you need to run off any extra copies at a later date, as your invitation will be there, ready to be printed as many times as required.

Photographic Cards

Find a picture of the two of you - it could be of you both as children, when you first met, or a funny, serious or romantic picture - the choice is yours. This can be reproduced, and stuck into the card, which can then be personalised, for example with hearts drawn around the edge of the card with metallic pens.

Crafty Cards

Get creative with ribbon, adhesive jewels, metallic pens, sequinned hearts, dried flowers or even Love Heart sweets - your imagination is the only limit here!

Cross-stitch Cards

If you are handy with a needle, buy blank cards into which a cross-stitch picture can be sewn. However, make sure that you plan a simple design, and buy small cards, or you will find yourself completing the last card on your first wedding anniversary!
